In the episode, we see Kono as a surfer - and we get to enjoy funny arguments between McDanno discussing different ways of doing their job :-) I love the McDanno scenes in this episode.

Since kidney disease, diabetes and the resulting need for kidney transplants are quite common, we'd like to provide you with some useful information on ways to prevent kidney disease, but also on symptoms, as well as treatments and kidney transplantations. And, of course, the photo of this script does NOT mean that filming for this season is already over. Filming continues until the end of March! Otherwise, the fan who will win in the current charity sweepstakes could not visit Hawaii and the set of H50 in the last week of March! However, the time between the drawing of the winner and the trip to Hawaii is extremely short - which is the reason why I said from the very beginning of the sweepstakes that fans who participate from outside the US should have a valid passport.

It's a great episode with Navy SEAL Steve showing various sides of his character - and I love them all. It's the episode in which a fellow Navy SEAL who's falsely accused of killing his wife, takes hostages on the U.S.S. Missouri.

H50 guest-actress Jennie Lee (tonight on German TV) is also a yoga instructor and book author - She recently published her 2nd book!
German fans can see Jennie tonight as one of the hostages aboard the U.S.S. Missouri in H50 ep. 1.07 but she also played a hostage in a later episode (5.15) with the African warlord who worked as a cab driver in Hawaii.
Wendie wrote a Five-0 Redux blog about Jennie in Season 5 and I've been following her work since then. She recently wrote an inspiring, highly praised book called "Breathing love". I just got done watching the episode and I find it a bit creepy that there was a nuclear alert at the beginning of this episode which was filmed in mid-December right before the cast and crew went on a short break for Christmas before returning to work to film ep. 8.18 (The one directed by Alex) in the second week of January. I'm sure you all remember the false nuclear alert that scared our Hawaiian friends - well, that was on January 13 and, thus, a few weeks after H50 filmed episode 8.17. This is also not the first time that the H50 writers created a scenario that happened in real life almost at the same time the respective episode aired on CBS. I highly doubt that ep. 8.17 was modified after the real-life alert to include an alert in the episode - but you never know.
By the way, I thought the episode was really good. The scene with Danno explaining to his colleagues why nuclear death would be a better option than to be stuck in the blue room (like they were in quarantine) was great. I said pretty much the same thing to my friends when the false alert happened in Hawaii in January - I'd rather be dead right away in that situation. The scene with Lou and Tani interrogating the baddie in the blue room was hilarious, too - as was the scene at the end with Odell telling Steve that it was a bad idea to cut his hair. Yes, Steve should let barbister Odell do the job, next time - after growing his hair back a bit, first, of course.

MARCH 12, 2018:

Happy H50 Monday to the German fans with the "new" ep. 8.06 on Sat.1 at 10:15 p.m.!
It's a very special episode to me because it was filmed during my vacation in Hawaii last September. The scene shown in the collage with McDanno and Duke was filmed on Ilalo Street where my friend Cheryl and I watched filming on a Monday morning. It took about 2 hours or so to film this scene from various angles. Afterwards, the crew packed up very quickly and everyone headed over to the next location (the "pretend" Honolulu Police Dept. which is actually Hawaii's Dept. of Defense near Diamond Head). Cheryl and I went to the second location, too, where only a short scene (Five-0 arriving at the HPD) was filmed before everyone was driving over to the film studio to continue filming there. As many of you know, I also watched filming a "shrimp truck scene" a few days later on Magic Island where I got the photo together with Alex at the end of a long day of filming and me waiting next to the set.
Anyway - I love this episode because it has a lot of fun moments and brings back good memories from my vacation :-)

Mariano recently spent a few weeks in Hawaii (which he loves!) and had the pleasure of meeting Dennis Chun and Kimo Kahoano for pizza and a talk about both the original "Hawaii Five-O" and the current reboot. This reminds me of the second time I was an extra on a short film by students of the HFF (Film school in Munich). They had called me in the morning because they needed more extras to play passengers in an airport scene. When I arrived, filming was already in progress and for some inexplicable reason the director thought I was the make-up person, so he asked me to blow-dry the main-actor's sweaty arm-pits. Well, I had to disappoint him since I had no blow-dryer in the little suitcase I had brought with me as a prop :-)
As you can imagine, Meaghan's video clip just put a big grin on my face since it brought back memories of that slightly awkward moment I experienced on set back then.

And I may add that I would hate to be in the producers' shoes because they are literally "torn" between the a.m. two sides of the fandom. It's simply impossible to please both of those sides.

That's what I hate about Facebook - any idiot can set up an account and use someone else's name. Just recently someone who used Alex's profile photo from his official Facebook page and his (correctly spelled) name sent me Facebook messages in which he/she thanked me and asked for help and financial support for a new foundation he said he was going to set up for his 42nd birthday. I reported the person to Alex's publicist Rachael and the person was forced to remove the photo and name - but now the same person runs an account under the name of another actor (not from H50). Facebook told me to simply block the renamed account if I didn't know that person and felt bothered by him/her. Well, I did but I wonder if he/she will fool and try to cheat on the other actor's fans now (Zachary Levi).
Anyway, the only official Facebook account of Eddie's owner Sue is the one of her animal training company "Check the Gate"!

This is one of the few memories I just reposted after FB suggested it to me. The photo was taken by Scotty across the street from the Hawaii Theatre where H50 filmed for ep. 6.24 afterwards. MARCH 31, 2018: Have a good, relaxing weekend!

Happy Easter with Alex and this cute little fellow!
Although Good Friday was already part of the long Easter weekend for most fans, I decided to focus on the new H50 ep. 8.18 in all of my Friday posts and collages. It was such a special episode for all of us fans of Alex since it was his directorial debut - and I got a little overwhelmed and made tons of collages with promo pics, BTS-photos and screencaps from the trailer and sneak peeks (I still have more collages to post). But now we can all focus on Easter - and just keep rewatching H50 ;-)

Enjoy the great read about an awesome episode! Alex did such an amazing job - but so did all the actors and cinematographer Kurt Jones. This episode is the perfect treat to rewatch on this Easter weekend. The only "flaw" about this episode is that Danno slept with the domestic-abuse victim. Unfortunately, I have to agree with other fans that this was not the Danno we've known since Season 1 who only would have helped this woman but not started an affair with her. And there weren't even deep feelings between these two because otherwise Danno would have reacted more emotionally when the woman told him that she was going to leave New Jersey - and if her plans to leave had mattered to him, he probably wouldn't have happily flirted with Rachel right afterwards. BUT one single flaw in the storyline doesn't destroy the rest of this great episode to me! And I still love Danno, for sure. That one mistake he made in the distant past made him catch a bullett from Ray but Danno saved the woman's life - and ultimately that's all that counts.
Besides, director Alex and the actors - especially Scotty, guest-actress Joanna Christie, as well as Meaghan and Beulah were simply awesome. And I thought Alex switched perfectly between acting and directing - he handled both jobs with excellence and was such a pleasure to watch both in front of and (in BTS-footage) behind the camera. As a long-time, diehard fan of Alex, I couldn't be any prouder of him than after enjoying his wonderful work on this special episode!

APRIL 1, 2018 (Link to new April "News" page at the bottom of this page)

A new "News" page is coming up soon but I've been getting a little "LOST" making more screencaps and collages from ep. 8.18. For starters, here's a new collage with a cool shot of Steve looking through a hole in a shower curtain. I thought the way this scene was filmed was great. I might be the only one with this impression though but it was one of several scenes in which Alex, together with cinematographer Kurt Jones, seem to have chosen a very special perspective and camera angle to make an otherwise unimpressive scene look kind of special and almost like a piece of art.
The same applies to the scene in which Brooke throws Ray's ashes up into the air and into the ocean. The way the ashes move through the air, and the look on Brooke's face as she's literally throwing away her painful past, once and for all, were also filmed in a special way. Scenes like these reflect how much thought, dedication and artistic creativity Alex puts into his work as a director. And I simply love the final product of his work!
Amidst all the well-deserved praise for Alex, we must not forget though that making a TV show is teamwork - and I think everyone in the fantastic cast & crew gave their very best to make Alex's directorial debut a huge success. Their dedication and support reflect their appreciation and love for this man that he's earned over the last eight years.
